LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

As most of you know Wednesday is the last day of school for Pt England, most of us are happy because we get 2 weeks of holiday. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but for us it is, because every single weekday we have school but every single weekend we have a break so that's 5 days of school every week until well you know.


As weird as this sound I really don't want to finish school because I won't be able to see all me friend until after 2 week :-(.


I feel like staying at this school forever and I never want to leave but unfortunately I have to move on If I had 1 wish I'd wish nobody would ever grow up.

All About Me!!!

Hi My name is Tyla Baker and I am In year 8 at Pt England school. I have a lot of hobbies I like to do and 1 of them is I love to play sport, I really like playing with my friends as well. I have 3 brother my eldest is 19 and my 2 eldest is 17 turning 18and lastly my youngest is 16. My favorite color's are green yellow and blue.

6 Hour Drive!!!

A short while ago, me and my family went for a 6 hour drive to Taranaki (this is my home town) for my aunties funereal. She was buried in a coffin made of flax as surprising as it sounds, she weaved it.
It was my first time coming into Taranaki to meet the rest of my family, I meet my uncle Ropata (he’s a true Maori) I meet most of my cousins and my Nana's and gran-pa's and every body else.
I knew that I would be shocked when I saw my aunties body and I was but not as much.
I really want to go back for Christmas holidays to see my cousins, my uncles and aunties.
Everyone was crying after the funeral and I never wanted to leave my auntie but I had too.
When we left to go home the next day, I really really wanted to cry cause it had been to long for me stay and not want to go home.
I said “I will miss you guys”
My uncle said “We will miss all of you too”
“BYE” said my mum
“BYE” they all said
“I hope we get to go there again”
“Me too, did you have fun with the girls”
“Yes”
“Then we might as well go in the Christmas holidays”
“YEEP” i screamed

Matakana Fair

Going up North was a long trip, It was so long I fell asleep half way there.

As I woke up 2 hours later, I was ready to eat. I yawned loud giving my mum a huge fright “WOW” she said “don’t scare me again I might crash,”
“ok” I replied in a sigh I said hungrily.
“Wait“ she said and we pulled up into the McDonald's drive thru
“ may i please take your order” I heard “ yes” replied my mum .
“What do you want,” inquired mum
“ a double cheese burger combo please”,
“with what drink?” she said
i replied with a answer saying “coke please”
‘’ok Coke coming right up”
We drove to the window, my order came through
“thank-you “said my mum.
We drove the rest of the way to my aunties house, it was about half and hour away. We got there finally i went to the back for some fresh air and there she was, she whispered in my ear “guess what”
“what” i said.
She knew I loved going to the Matakana and she said “It’s tomorrow “
“ what’s tomorrow?”
“you know the fair”
“Yay” i screamed louder and louder (with excitement) “Woohhoo”


As The day came I woke up early waiting for every one else to wake up . Every one was getting ready but me, my auntie says to me “watta eager beaver”
“hahahahahahaha” I laughed.
“I want this and I want that,” I said to my mum and my mum said “ OH TYLA YOU JUST WANT EVERY THING DON’T YOU” and I said “pretty much” (my mum laughed and so did I.)

On the way home from the Matakana Fair with the back of the car fulled with stuff we got from the fair my mum said “WOW it looks like we spent a lot of money” and i said
“but we didn't” my dad laughed and said” we only spent $50 dollars”
“that’s still quite alot” said my mum
“not really”
“true”
Not wanting to go home, I sat watching out the window as my auntie and her family slowly disappeared.
Screaming out loud i heard “BYE"

Kapa Haka!!!

Being In Kapa Haka is really good, you get the opportunity to find out about Maori and you learn how to understand their language. Some people think that some Maori action are hard, but there really not here is a photo of us doing action at the Auckland Museum. It is really easy once you get to no the culture.

Aussie Rules!!!

Hi today I will be talking to you about Aussie rules.

At Aussie rules you learn new skill in rugby. You learn skills called drop punt, hand pass, chest mark, and spectacular, and I am not sure about the rest, but just to let you know now they are not that hard. You play a game called Octopus, the rules are you have to get them out by doing a hand pass that is hard. One last thing, the instutor are a ladie and a man or sometimes it can be both ladies.

The story behind the USA flag !!!

There are fifty stars on the USA flag, each representing one of the 50 states. The 13 horizontal stripes which represent the thirteen colonies that fought against the British rule and became the first states in the Union.
There is one star for each state in the country.
The red stands for toughness and courage, and the blue stand for perseverance and purpose.
When you combined them together, you get the American Flag, and a symbol for likeness and freedom..... and the true meaning of being and American.

Home Sweet Home!!!

Coming back from a long trip, from up north at about 12.33 am to be exact. I just discovered that it was about 1 to 2 hour there and back well it depends on where you go.

my most favorite thing to do is go to a place called samentworks it is a lake. Did you know that it is one of the deepest lakes I've ever been to. It was along time ago since i have been there, so when ever we go there it brings back good memory's from when our whole family went down it was and has been so much fun to hang out with my family and i wont be very long till you might be able to hang out with you whole family

Badminton!!!

How boring do you think it sounds, well I bet it sounds really boring.
Yeah well I bet once you give it a chance you will love it.
Before I started playing I thought it was going to be boring, but then like I said before I gave it a chance, and It was quite fun.
What are some things that I liked and disliked you might ask. Well thing that I didn't like is when you had to keep stopping to listen to the instructor and stop playing. One thing I did like was having the experience to learn some new skills. Oh and guess what it turns out that our instructor plays on T.V.
I mean WOW how cool is that.
OMG I did it, I actually did it. I was screaming in my head, then all of a sudden “BRRRRRRRRRRING” OH man I was thinking, not wanting to go I did a big sigh. OK so have you ever heard what some of the skills called, here are 3 of them
backhand, forehand, and a trick shots. The way she did it was amazing she did one where you chuck it up and hit it under your legs, and another one where she did a backside hit (well that’s what I call it anyways).
Oh no I heard some one say, out of no where I said Oh yesssss. Where playing our game now, O my head I would say oh “OK focus Tyla Focus You can do this” I only said it because I was a bit nervous, OK maybe a little bit more, Fine you got me I was a lot more nervous.
picking out demonstrators was our instructors one, two, three, and one more you.
She pointed at me “Haaa me na” come on she kept saying till I got up I sighed again.
I got to the court and a little tap is what I heard I turned and wallah I tried to hit it but I missed. I started laughing tap I heard it again I turned and moved it hit the ground. Now see if it hits the ground you are also out ok do you get the instruction now in reply we said”YES” alright off you go then” line by line person by person another and another.
By jolly there was alot of noise by alot I mean screaming and that stuff, It was so x3 noise. Wow what an experience that was and I really hope that we can do this again especially doing another sport. In the end I said to myself WATTA DAY and blew my head from sweat.

On one Sunny morning the Pt England Seniors went down the road to watch a Roadshow about Science, the enclosed cost was 7 dollars. At first I thought it was a Ripoff..... but then as we got down there and started learning about how science works in my head I would always say, “ wow it was really worth it just like everyone said”. Three of my favorite activity's were, ” The ref-election of the skeleton in the mirror” because it ref-elects off the mirror and on to the chair it makes it look a little bit like a granny in a rocking chair. My other one was the one where you had to rub your hands together very very hard until your hands got very hot then, put them under the bulb, and watch it rise to the top, it looked a bit like a weight. My last one was where you could sit on the chair and pull the chain to make yourself go up! One thing that amazed me at first was the zink that would melt so easily and would burn a hole right through it. Some of the thing’s that I didn’t really like at the roadshow is that the instructors talk way to long. One thing I did like was that you could try win yourself a prize by getting a card, it should tell you where you need to go to and try figure out how they work to get a hole punched in to your card. When they call you back you write your name and put it in a LUNCH BOX. The instructors will say OK we will call out a couple of names to win themselves a prize, it was a pair of 3D glasses and a 3D picture. The winners were Athena and Tia, at first when one of the instructors said Tia I thought it was me because he said is it Tya then he said or is it Tia and then everyone said Tia.
So the winner went up to get their prize, after a Restless day of walking there and back from the roadshow we got back to school and it was home time, as i got home I jumped in my bed and drifted quietly off to sleep.

My Scariest But Funny Nightmare

My Scariest But Funny Nightmare I had this Nightmare when I slept over at Selina’s house. I will tell you what It was about, me and Selina had just finished watching a scary movie, straight after the movie Selina said “I am so tired” in a reply “I said right back at ya” should we go to sleep” “yeah I think so”. As I drifted off to sleep I was suddenly dreaming about a wonderful thing then out of no where came a nightmare, I carried on sleeping to watch the rest.
It was about the man wearing black, along with his face painted black as well. The thing is while me and Selina were doing the dishes in my nightmare we saw a light flashing out on the window the brightest light shone right on our face’s.
we stared out side trying to see who it was, but we couldn't. So we stared around the house trying to think who was out there we found a torch and went out side as soon as we shone the light on him he ran into a pile of long grass and put a bogey board over his body to hide himself. But then..............
I pick up the bogey board knowing he was under there and I tried to whack him with it and told him to get lost. So he ran, and then me and Selina carried on doing the dishes! Soon after he came back. So we picked the torch up again ran out side and this time it was Selina who tried to hit him but he knew it was coming and he grabbed the bogey board and chucked it away. After he chucked the board away he said if you tell anyone I was here I will come back for you then we both screamed after a short amount of time, 7 seconds after Selina’s auntie came out and saw the man. She had seen him before in her child hood, she fainted and fell down the steps. Not long after Selina screamed out loud “MUM” Help us auntie died (she didn't really though Selina just thought she did)
Selina’s mum came out and said what. Selina said “look auntie’s dead” in a reply her mum said” No she’s not you dork” Selina said Oh so that’s she was still moving. I hoped you liked my story stay tuned to see more blog post of mine.

Wood Tech

Wondering what my new technology experience would be like, I was not only beginning a new tech class, but also a new term. My break was officially over, and I was into my first day back at school. My talented teacher for wood work is Mr Grundy. He can make so many cool things, such as trains, plane’s, trucks, and he can even make them for dolls. Mr Grundy gave us a folder to work in. We followed the dotted lines in the book, ending up with the same things but in a different way. Mr Grundy was showing us how to use a saw, I said," what is that black thing at the end?" He said, "It is a thing that stops it from chopping your toes off if your holding it the wrong way." “OH” After a while, Mr Grundy showed us his sledge hammer he made. It was pretty impressive! He also showed us a sharp thing called a chisel which is so sharp, that if you slide it across a piece of paper it can slice it in half, depending on which way you hold it. You hold the handle and bang it with your other hand. Hope you liked my writing, look out for some more new posts!

The one an only terrifying earthquake in Christchurch?

While I was screaming during the Earthquake suddenly thinking I’m going to die, I was seeing every single house in the district collapsing. I was so terrified that the building, was going to collapse. So I slid under a steel table waiting for it to happen. Suddenly I heard every thing is ok, as I came out from under the table “BANG” “BANG” “BANG”I screamed my lung out still waiting for it to stop, but unfortunately it did’nt until 1 minute and 25 seconds. I thought it was only me seeing dead people landing right in front of me,I started cry wondering about my family and all the people that were dead. I wished that this was not happening, just as I was climbing out, I was trying to help a man. He was stuck under a heavy piece of wood. It was the scariest thing that had ever happened to me, in my life and I hope it never happens again.
